3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Another 4am wake-up! The cats were delighted! I am equally delighted to have a weekend free of the Weekend Job, ostensibly for Missus birthday but mainly for quality Me Time! Missus has to work normally today and tomorrow Daughter gets her day with Missus, leaving me with two daytimes to do what I like with!

With no football to enjoy, a movie fest beckons, as I can enjoy the many films currently unwatched on Tivo. Fri/Sat evenings will be at the disposal of Missus and Sunday, her actual birthday, will be essentially the same as normal but with birthday cake and pink bubbly thrown in.

There will also be some extended meditation and paying off some accumulated sleep debt. The general theme of the weekend is to thoroughly enjoy life as this character, but existing on two levels at once as I also turn off thought and enjoy being Higher Consciousness.

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU

9. ZEN WISDOM
The course of our lives is determined by how we react—what we decide and what we do—at the darkest of times. The nature of that response determines a person’s true worth and greatness.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
I spontaneously woke up at 4am this morning, the earliest time I'm prepared to get up. I did hit the sack at 10, and I only appeared to need 6 hours.

Today offers a certain abundance of free time, and I intend not to spend it sat on my arse other than for a prolonged meditation. Plenty of fresh air in the garden beckons!

Days where I don't need my brain for social interaction are precious opportunities to raise consciousness out of character. Particularly for a character that is more easily emotionally aroused than the character would prefer, it's pleasant to be Consciousness rather than "me". It's a golden opportunity to make advances toward the goal of Internal Silence, driven by intuition rather than thought.

The character's ultimate preference would have been a character experience of blissful ignorance, but this was not its destiny. Born into a dysfunctional environment and deprived of approval, the character experience has been a nightmare at times. The only escape was to awaken. Once awakened, you cannot then un-awaken. You cannot forget that you are not the character you play. You can only relax, accept and simply be.

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
Do you want to know who and what you truly are?

5. TODAY'S WEATHER IN BRADFORD
Dry and sunny throughout with a moderate easterly wind
Max Temp = 18 degC at 5pm
Min Temp = 7 degC at 6am
Sunrise at 04:36
Sunset at 21:37
Moon:

Weathertrack: The Azores anticyclone is returning south to its normal location. A small anticyclone in the North Sea will keep Britain dry today before moving away east
Air Pressure: 1025 millibars and falling

6. TODAY'S ONELINER
You see a mouse trap, I see free cheese and a challenge :D

7. NOW THAT'S FUNNY!

8. TRIVIA
People with ginger hair have twice the risk of developing Parkinson’s Disease

9. ZEN WISDOM
Each of us, no matter how weak or ineffectual we may feel ourselves to be, must build deep within our hearts a stronghold for peace, one that will be capable of withstanding and in the end silencing the incessant internal and external calls to war.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Shadow the cat has developed the amusing habit of sitting upright on the bedside coffee table and staring at me just as I wake up in the morning, so she's the first sight I see when I open my eyes! This incidentally is 04:30, about one hour before I actually must get up, but I usually get up anyway and give her the breakfast she was hoping for. I have by necessity of getting Missus up become an early to bed and early to rise person.

At the moment client appointments purely by chance are bunched into the first half of the week, which is very handy for devoting my time mainly to clients in that first half then doing household and family stuff in the back half. Of course once it gets to the point where I am mowed out with clients, I can drop the Weekend Job and progress from there.

This character has spent much of his life at the mercy of assholes and their agendas. I don't think it's possible to have a life entirely free of them, but I have at least reached the point where it's a minority occurrence. When I get to a point where I can ditch the Weekend Job, it would become a VERY rare occurrence. The focus of this character right now is to therefore build up the Practice to the 7-days-a-week level.

I will then have no one treading on my raw nerves and be free to realize my maximum potential. In this life, all the "good stuff" promises to be focused in the final third!

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
Do you have a clear picture of where you want to be that you are working towards?

5. TODAY'S WEATHER IN BRADFORD
Dry and sunny throughout with a moderate easterly wind
Max Temp = 15 degC at 5pm
Min Temp = 7 degC at 6am
Sunrise at 04:37
Sunset at 21:36
Moon:

Weathertrack: The Azores anticyclone, positioned unusually far north to the east of Ireland will split in two, each half moving in opposite directions, south-west and north-east. This double anticyclone will produce the sunniest and driest day of the week before splitting apart.

6. TODAY'S ONELINER
Childhood is like being drunk. Everyone remembers all the stupid things you did, except you. :D

7. NOW THAT'S FUNNY!

8. TRIVIA
In 2012, scientists discovered that a primary reason penguins can swim so fast is that they have a special “bubble boost.” When penguins fluff their feathers, they release bubbles that reduce the density of the water around them. The bubbles act as lubrication that decreases water viscosity, similar to competitive swimsuits.

9. ZEN WISDOM
Character can be shaped or etched. It may be true from a medical perspective that our psychological and physiological traits are generally predetermined genetically. Knowing this, however, adds little to our lives. All that matters is how we can better ourselves here and now.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
After catching up on Sunday, I got straight back into sleep debt on Monday! No meditation and not enough sleep. Though I had extra stuff the bottom line is I wasn't organized enough and too distracted. Though it's a busy day for clients today there is adequate space between to catch up on brain rest, so I will certainly do so.

I know full well that if my character's wellbeing is not properly maintained, Consciousness can't see above it. Pleasant but pointless distractions are current the biggest threat to achieving my goals. A nice problem to have of course. Underlying all the various twists and turns of the drama is the underlying profound sense of gratitude to be in a happy loving place. I am savouring every moment.

8. TRIVIA
There are Google bikes parked throughout the Googleplex that employees can hop on and ride from building to building. None of them is locked; employees simply take them when they need them. Additionally, a doctor regularly visits the Google campus so Googlers don’t have to leave the office for a checkup. Google is also known for its “20% time,” the one day a week that employees can take simply to work on something that interests them.

9. ZEN WISDOM
Birth, ageing, sickness and death are the inescapable realities of life, and the eternal questions humankind has attempted to resolve. How can we create the greatest value amidst a reality that is impermanent and in constant flux?

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Though I can control (to some extent!) focus and behaviour, mood I have found to be like the weather - it originates from circumstances beyond my control and I simply have to respond to it as best as I can. This morning I am fortunate - I find my mood calm. I will embrace the moment gratefully! A calm mood is a golden opportunity to do things well and lift consciousness out of the character.

Reflecting over the past days, I have realized that conflict is inevitable. Self-pity and certainly not cowardice are not options for me. When faced with bullies, predators and platitude-mongers, this character WILL take up a weapon. Acceptance of this has probably contributed to the calm mood I have woken up with.

The best thing about calm moods is that they make internal silence much easier to achieve. Internal silence is utter BLISS! Consciousness itself generates a subtle but almost excruciatingly pleasant HUM and when your mind is silent, you can feel it, like a quiet orgasm that just keeps going. It is the most pleasant physical sensation that it's possible to experience! It's certainly a primal incentive to keep your focus in the right place.

Because mood is not entirely within my control, it's not possible for me to maintain that deep level of internal silence all the time, but I'm working on it!

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
What is your attitude towards conflict?

5. TODAY'S WEATHER IN BRADFORD

Min Temp = 6 degC at 6am
Sunrise at 04:38
Sunset at 21:34
Moon:

Weathertrack: The Azores anticyclone will remain static, unusually far north to the west of Ireland, keeping Britain dry but dragging in cool Arctic air
Air Pressure: 1036 millibars and static

6. TODAY'S ONELINER
I made a huge TO DO list for this week. Just can't figure out who's going to do it. :D

7. NOW THAT'S FUNNY!

8. TRIVIA
A study of college students who had just been rejected by their sweethearts showed they had strong activity in the brain associated with the insular cortex, the part of the brain that experiences physical pain.

9. ZEN WISDOM
Do we view old age as a period of decline ending in death, or as an ascent toward the attainment of our goals, toward bringing our life to a rewarding and satisfying conclusion? A subtle difference in our inner attitude can completely transform our experience of these years.
