3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
I did quite well yesterday, keeping "super-conscious" for significant periods, although it's difficult to maintain it continually - it requires energy I'm not used to spending. Of course, this is typical of any new practice, and I expect to get continually better at it.

It's a very weird experience - you're no longer "you" - you are a featureless observer observing what you thought was you, which turns out to be just a sophisticated process interacting with lots of others. It all became a combination of "clockwork running down" and a movie, but all in 3D surround sound virtual reality. There were no longer any decisions to make - the decisions all made themselves! You just "enjoyed the movie".

But to stay at that point of consciousness is proving challenging! After having spent a lifetime believing you are the character you are observing, it's easy to slip back into it.

The terms "right" and "wrong" don't apply here - it's not "wrong" to identify with your ego, nor "right" or "noble" to be enlightened. I believe that consciousness simply gravitates to that which is most comfortable. If the experience of being an ego is a reasonably OK one, the consciousness within that field of being will remain there. If not, it will seek to escape that ego experience. Both serve a purpose. The egos are unconsciously creating the environment that enables the enlightened to awaken. The enlightened collectively constitute the consciousness of the Universe.
