3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Last night's "quality time" with missus went well - these days for me it's about fulfilling her needs successfully rather than anything to do with mine. I'm simply relieved that I successfully complete the mission. I arrive in the bedroom 30 minutes before her to "warm up". Not that I'm completely without libido, but if I do get "the urge" it's in the morning - when missus is usually asleep or at work! This morning, undoubtedly induced by Tadalafil, I awoke with a serious boner at 4am that without thinking about I relieved while missus slept on oblivious.

However, it would be wrong to say that I'm unhappy in any way with the situation, because it suits me fine! Everybody gets what they need.

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
Have you got an issue that needs talking out?

5. TODAY'S WEATHER IN BRADFORD
Cold, dry and sunny all day.

7. NOW THAT'S FUNNY!

8. TRIVIA
Castles had no toilets. Instead they had “garderobes,” a little room with a hole through which users would aim their waste products, which would drop through chutes into the surrounding moats. They were called gaderobes because residents would keep their clothing inside, as the odour would infuse into the clothes and repel biting insects and moths.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Though I have got some stuff done, pro-activity has been somewhat lacking this week so far - maybe the disruption to my routine and "hangover" from my 50th birthday long weekend has had an effect. Clients and deadlines have prevented me grinding to a complete halt. Of course, these are nice problems to have, brought on by low stress, loving relationships, a steady flow of resources, abundant time and many creature comforts to enjoy.

I absolutely do not want the incentive of adversity to get me moving! Instead, a refocus on my identities as carer/housekeeper, therapist, guru and father are needed, and I will make them the focus of my gratitude and meditations.

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
Are the various elements of your life in balance?

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
My first proper day of my fifties was not as productive as I'd intended, although relationship-wise it was a day when my relationships all deepened just by being myself. That of course is more important anyway.

My sleep-pattern, marked by early-waking of late, seemed to settle as I retired at 2200, and apart from a wee at 0215 slept right through with a vivid dream thrown in until woken by the alarm at 0500.

An upsurge in my business in November came at just the right time, with the expenses of a computer monitor, CNHC membership renewal, an electrician, Tadalafil and Christmas to pay for. You could of course interpret this as a handy coincidence, but I prefer to see it as the abundance of the Universe!

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
Can you see a link between how grateful you are and what comes your way?

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
After an enjoyable few days, my fifties proper start today. I am determined to get the most out of them! Subject to events, my agenda for the decade is:

To learn to play piano and guitar.
To quit the Weekend Job and be part of a thriving complementary therapy business.
To make a difference every day, to myself, others and the environment.
To experience life continually from the perspective of the Higher Self, as the Universe from a single point in space and time.

It has taken me this long to just to awaken. No regrets though. A thorough experience of living from the perspective of a frequently lost, lonely and frightened individual amidst many others has led me to greater appreciate the contrast with understanding what "me" really is. It's a priviledge to have this particular life experience.

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
Do you want to understand who you really are and what you're doing?

5. TODAY'S WEATHER IN BRADFORD
Rain first thing will eventually clear by mid-morning.

6. TODAY'S ONELINER

7. NOW THAT'S FUNNY!

8. TRIVIA
A superorganism is many organisms acting as one. Superorganisms evolve when there is plenty of habitat to exploit but the organisms can't grow bigger. Insects are limited in size because they breathe by simple diffusion which isn't feasible in large moving animals. Instead, many individuals with almost the same genes work together. The superorganism can then grow by producing more individuals. Examples of superorganisms include ants, bees, wasps and termites.

Each individual has no "mind" of its own. Its' actions are determined by hormones that are produced and passed on by the Queen, which serves as both the brain and the reproductive system.

An alternative structure is the group, in which individuals with their own minds co-operate for mutual benefit. Many different types of animals including humans exhibit this behaviour. Unlike superorganisms, the individuals in a group have their own agendas, so there is often conflict and competition within the group, usually over mating rights. So long as death and injury from these conflicts are suitably limited, the group remains viable and an effective means of survival.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
You'd think being full-time carer for a wife who is a Paranoid Schizophrenic would be a big burden to bear. Certainly it's not something I would have chosen, and the time before it was treated was the darkest time of my life. Ten years on though, and after several turns of good fortune, I actually love my life, with the exception of the Weekend Job, although I can handle that whilst it's necessary.

There are two factors which make caring for Missus a lot easier than it normally is for Paranoid Schizophrenics. Firstly she faithfully takes all her medication. This enables her to hold down a full-time job, and since we have zero debt and so low overheads, I can be housekeeper (which missus would be clueless at) and run my Hypnotherapy Practice from home. Secondly, she is passionately, deeply and totally in love with me.

These two factors mean I get far more freedom than the average bloke, no one's on my back to do stuff (which I would hate) and I'm able to pursue my passions, hypnotherapy in particular. We share the house with Son, who is virtually a clone of me but in far more favourable conditions than I had at his age, and our relationship is the thing in my life that I most treasure. We are without doubt each other's best friends. Being with him is like visiting myself in a parallel universe. This means I can give him enormous help and support.

With an abundance of love, and having a wealth of creature comforts, home is a heavenly place just now. I am beside myself with gratitude. But dammit I've earned it. I've had my share of fear, hurt and loneliness.

Relationship with Daughter, who is currently at a safe distance, is a work in progress. I have been taught that anything anybody does between 12 and 20 needs to be unconditionally forgiven, because the rewiring of the brain and hormonal rebalancing in that period is so extensive that young folks often have no idea what they're doing. Unfortunately, at the time, it was beyond by ability to cope with her and care for missus as well.

Over time and at a distance, the relationship has greatly improved, and I have been able to offer her emotional and intellectual support. As she continues to grow and develop, I'm confident our relationship will continue to grow too.

4. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Is your life going somewhere?

5. TODAY'S WEATHER IN BRADFORD

In the English Channel... Kriegsmarine patrol vessel V-1514 is sunk by mine.

In Greece... In a spectacularly successful operation, the Athens-Salonika rail viaduct at Gorgopotamos is destroyed by an alliance of Nationalist and Communist Greek partisans led by a British SOE team. An important Axis supply route is now out of action for several months.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Rather than attempt to organise a party or night out for my 50th, Son decided to go for goodies, and chose well! A most excellent selection of Real Ales, Frankie Boyle's new DVD of the tour we saw him on earlier in the year, and a quality Gothic T-Shirt. I congratulated him on a job well-done.

Home is currently such an idyllic place that I feel no need for a big social gathering. I'd rather be in the company of the two people who adore me than 50 who would carry on OK without me. I am thus having a great birthday fest doing not a lot.

My main concern yesterday was that my recent caustic encounters with blokes wouldn't spoil the day and be taken out on my loved ones. In previous times, such encounters would have ruined my life for weeks. Whilst the memories inevitably grumbled in my head, I kept focus on having fun, and the prime objective of not hurting loved ones was achieved - I had great quality time with both of them.

I have made a major breakthrough in understanding and mind-management - to allow pleasure and pain, joy and sorrow, positive and negative forces to coexist together in my mind. This liberates my awareness from internal conflict and being lost in the drama of the life experience, and to see it all in perspective from a distance as The Observer. That is the Ideal Place for your consciousness to rest, a place of blissful peace of mind where the pleasurable hum of being can be continually experienced.

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
Where does the true you live? In your good memories, bad memories or beyond either?

5. TODAY'S WEATHER IN BRADFORD
Heavy rain at first. The rain will finally peter out late morning.
