3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
I'm currently in a very fulfilling time with clients to see, plans to draw up and my 50th birthday fest approaching. It's also been a time that my emotional sensitivity has been highlighted, although I have successfully managed the various recent incidents. In the latest occurrence, I was a little suprised at my own reaction to a scene in Fringe (series 3 Ep 08) where Olivia narrowly escapes being dissected alive. It's very rare that I'm disturbed by a drama scene. I think it was because it combined things I find upsetting with things I find a turn-on in the same scene - serious Cognitive Dissonance!

However, the only way you can develop is to be challenged. Through recent emotional challenges, I have moved on from coping techniques of distraction and mind-calming (important and useful as they are) to introspection and by the act of observation, breaking down and dissolving experience into the fundamental energy components.

One of the more profound lessons I have learned is that observation is not a passive act. It has consequences for both the observer and that observed.
