In Munich... Hitler meets Count Ciano (representing Mussolini) for a brief conference.
In Vichy... Vichy French prime-minister Pierre Laval persuades Marshal Petain and the Council of Ministers to agree to allow the Luftwaffe the use of Vichy
French air-space and facilities in Tunisia. Vichy French admaril Darlan is ordered not to negotiate an armistice with the Allies in North Africa. Laval then departs Vichy to meet with Hitler.
In the Mediterranean... The Royal Navy lose corvette HMS Gardenia to a collision and minesweeper HMS Cromer to a mine.
US vessel Leedstown sunk by U-331
Italian submarine Granito sunk by RN submarine HMS Saracen.
British vessels Ardeola and Tadorna, on their way to Malta, are captured by Vichy French torpedo boats off Cape Bon.
In Egypt... The British 8th Army takes Sidi Barrani.
In Algieria... With a local armastice signed, Allied troops enter Algiers.
General Anderson arrives to take command of the British 1st Army.
General Giraud arrives from Gibraltar.
Admaril Darlan is presented with a demand for an armistice throughout North Africa.
US troops push toward Oran from east and west against continued Vichy French
resistance.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
It turns out I'm a good dad after all. When your daughter turns to you in her hour of need despite all the trauma between you, you're probably doing something right. In my own microuniverse, I'm loved, appreciated and make a crucial difference, and it feels really good! So often I have not wanted to continue participating in this life experience, but I've made it to this point and I'm glad I kept going. Loving relationships both sustain you and make it all worthwhile.
