1. ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY
25th March 1807: The end of the Slave Trade in the United Kingdom
The Slave Trade Act was passed on 25 March 1807, with the title of "An Act for the Abolition of the Slave Trade". The original act is in the Parliamentary Archives. The act abolished the slave trade in the British Empire, in particular the Atlantic slave trade, and also encouraged British action to press other European states to abolish their slave trades, but it did not abolish slavery itself.
Many of the Bill's supporters thought the Act would lead to the death of slavery, but it was not until 26 years later that slavery itself was actually abolished. Slavery on English soil was unsupported in English law and that position was confirmed in Somersett's Case in 1772, but it remained legal in most of the British Empire until the Slavery Abolition Act 1833.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Good Friday has very much crept up on me this year! This is of course all part of the "racing time" syndrome that comes with ageing. I probably wouldn't have booked a client today if I'd realized today WAS Good Friday!
On the other hand, it is a rare Friday off from the Weekend Job, so with client gone by late morning, the rest of the day will be easy-going and family-orientated. With it being busy on the client front, I need to keep tight diary management - I've had a few "near-misses" already! All my skills and abilities will be useless to everyone if I bugger up the appointments! Updating the diary is first item on the "client Follow-Up agenda.

The Chinook Indian tribe used to make “Chinook Olives” by soaking acorns in urine for five months. The dish was considered a delicacy.
9. ZEN WISDOM
How aware are we of our own inner life, our spirituality—something so intangible yet so priceless? How much effort do we make to perceive that which is not obvious, which can neither be seen nor heard? The exploration and enrichment of the human spirit is what determines our very humanity.
