3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
It's been a week where normal routines had to be put aside and consequently the house is not as clean and tidy as I would like when clients are due, but family-wise a great success - the time and money investments made have strengthened family togetherness.
A good piece of spiritual advice I learned from Sharon Janis was to live on "many levels at once", from the Universal to the individual. Both ends of this experience spectrum are essential. Without the Universal, life is an experience of struggle, frustration and loss. Without the individual, life cannot be fully experienced.
I am currently experiencing the "Golden Age" from the individual perspective. My daily experience is one of joy, gratitude and inner peace. The things I have lost through age (20/20 vision, libido, suppleness) are not greatly missed. People and situations that are joyless have been ejected from my personal life and I have the strength and resources to keep them at bay. I am making the positive difference that I wish to make and have contributed to the collective wisdom of mankind.
An important additional lesson I have learned is that happiness is not about life being as you'd prefer. Your preferences and inclinations give you incentive but life is not about fulfilling them all. True fulfilment comes in making an impact, a lasting difference. Life itself cannot be posessed and held onto, but the joy of having participated positively is eternal.
