3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
One of the most influential books on me I have ever read is Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway by Dr. Susan Jeffers, its' main argument being exactly what it says on the cover. I have gone on to realize that the principle can be applied to any negative emotion. Bad feelings must neither be ignored nor obeyed. Feel them and pursue your goals anyway.

This principle has helped me a lot over my failed relationship with Daughter. The relationships that are going well don't simply "cancel out" the hurt I feel. But I know better than to try to anaesthetize it or let it ferment into anger. I simply "give it a room" in my consciousness, but not the Throne Room. Lord of my life is my own intention - to make a positive difference in the places where I can.

Everything I experience contributes some value to my wisdom, so nothing needs to be eliminated - simply accomodated in the right way.

8. TRIVIA
After the Romans crushed Spartacus' Slave's Revolt in 73 B.C., 6,000 slaves were crucified along the Appian Way, the main road into Rome - a gruesome warning for those entering and leaving the city.

Most victims of crucifixion die after a few days of dehydration through thirst. If executioners wanted to speed up a death, they would break the legs of the victim. The crucifix position under gravity restricts breathing and the victim would then gradually suffocate. For an instant end, or to ensure the victim was definitely dead, the victim was stabbed with a spear.
