3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Most of the time, taking Missus out is a relatively cheap date - yesterday for example, taking the bus to M&S Leeds for lunch and to pick up some nail varnish and bread rolls, to her constituted a Grand Day Out. Ironically, I spent more than her - on a head-cushion for the Consulting Room. On a jaunt to Liverpool later in the week, we will spend more on the coach than we will in the city - probably!

It's the dreaded NEXT catalogue where considerably more cash can be spent from the sofa with a simple phone call. However, after investing heavily in the Consulting Room this month, mainly on new audiovisual equipment, I could not with clear conscience refuse her boots and shoes for the forthcoming Pearl Wedding anniversary - a dress she wanted was out of stock - meaning they never had it in size 22 in the first place! This is blatantly obvious because the new catalogue has only just arrived!

My general view on purchases is to get stuff you want while you can afford it because you may not get another chance - you never know when the last ever opportunity will be. Now especially in our fifties, before age makes us too incapacitated, is the best chance we'll get to live life to the full.

I have only just got to the point where I "get it" and have adequate abundance to experience life truly awakened, so I will savour every precious moment and make the maximum possible difference.
