3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
My new strategy of "focusing on the hum" is proving helpful! "The Hum" is a pleasant experience generated simply by being calm enough to be aware of it. Once through meditation you have experienced it for the first time, and how deliciously pleasant it is, it's easy to focus on. This hum is most often described as "OM" and is believed by many to be the vibration the Universe itself makes.

The elimination of superfluous thought is now my principal aim. When not requiring thought, the only thought I want to have is OM. As I continue to focus on it, it gets progressively easier to keep my attention there. I am also finding it useful to recite the mantra I desire suffering to end.
