3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
I skipped my long Sunday meditation to basically indulge myself messing about on the laptop, and now I'm paying for it in unexpected ways! My brain and body has got used to this "downtime" and having been deprived of it, I've been feeling the effects - spells of tiredness and leaden limbs, despite being in a low-activity and stress-free environment. I will not miss next time's session!

I am convinced that meditation is a great contributor to my "Rottweiler" immune system - I almost never get ill! Of course, whilst robust, it's not invincible. I spent the first four months of this year with a hacking cough after contracting a virus from outside the local area, to which I had less immunity. I also contracted the highly infectious Norovirus in the past year. Otherwise though, I generally fight off cold, flu and stomach viruses before they cause any serious damage.

I have learned the importance of essential body maintenance - regular washing, sleep, nutrition and meditation keep one's being at optimum effeciency, and mind maintenance, involving sleep, meditation and focusing exercises, lead to a fulfilling life.

9. ZEN WISDOM
People who are rooted in the here and now, who are not defeated by their limitations, who don’t compare themselves to others, who confidently advance along their chosen path—such people are happy, such people are truly great.
