3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
The interesting thing about this character is that I seem to divide opinion down the middle, from family through acquaintances all the way through to Twitter followers. In most cases where I'm not liked, I have either rejected certain individuals or I'm indifferent to their dislike, but just occasionally I'm sad to lose one. The most obvious example of this is Daughter of course, and today I lost a particular online acquaintance.

Of course, you have to accept rejection and acceptance equally as the natural order of things. If I take a dislike to folks just for being how they are, karma dictates there are those who will respond to me in the same way. After a period of mourning that depends on how close you were, the next move is of course to refocus all your lovin' on the ones who are loving you.

I have learned that how people respond to you is mainly down to THEM and their own mindset. I cannot change the fundamental nature of my personality, nor the response of others, and I have learned well that it is a very counter-productive policy to attempt to please everyone. You just have to let some folks go and press on fulfilling your own purpose.

There are always both closed doors and open ones. You simply go to the open ones, not stay crying on the doorstep of one that has just slammed shut on you.
