One of this character's mental weaknesses is to rude/aggressive criticism - it tends to go into endless circles in my mind and I bear grudges for life. It has taken many years to even begin learning how to "let go" of such incidents.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
My current strategy is to pass the matter from intellect to intuition, which I visualize as a Buddhist Lama. This at least prevents mental paralysis, but it still takes several days after an encounter to regain balance.
I'm philosophical about this state of affairs - I didn't choose to have this sort of response installed! I can only manage it to the best of my knowledge and ability, and accept that I can be broken and my weaknesses exploited. I can make myself more robust but not invincible, and if something overwhelms my defences, it was caused by destiny and not my own arrogance. I have found that this acceptance of vulnerability paradoxically brings peace of mind.
