1. THIS DAY IN WORLD WAR 2 (2nd February 1943)
On the Russian Front...
In Stalingrad, XI Korps of German 6th Army finally capitulates, ending the Battle of Stalingrad. Stalingrad was the key battle of the war - it demonstrated that the German army was not invincible. It also showed Hitler to be a very poor military commander. His decisions were the cause of the defeat and the catastrophic loss of one of his best armies. Unlike Stalin, who listened to his generals, Hitler, convinced of his own greatness, would continue to override his generals with bad decisions. This, coupled with the fact that that he had made war on the two most powerful industrial countries in the world who were now fully mobilised, made the final outcome inevitable.

The source of my cough has moved from the bronchi to the trachea, right behind my tonsils. This shows the lungs themselves are significantly healed but the coughing is just as bad, and is playing havoc with my voice. Painkillers will suppress it enough to allow me to work with clients.
