3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
With some creative accounting, family finances made a manageable loss after an expensive January, but some moderate austerity measures will be required for this month, particularly as there will be January's monster gas/electric bill to pay for. Of course our finances are in much better shape than many folk, and we are completely debt-free, something I'm grateful for every day.

January was not the go-ahead month I had intended, scuppered by weather, illness, big expenses and other people letting me down. On the other hand, it was magnificently enjoyable in the main, with abundant me time and good successes in my Practice.

I have learned to make uncertainty a way of life, where instead of ploughing down a mapped-out future, I respond to the circumstances in front of me, relying on intuition for my decision-making and living by gratitude. I am currently very much enjoying the bliss of home life, the absence of struggle and conflict, and making a difference.

-40 degrees Farenheit = -40 degrees Celsius.
82 degrees Farenheit = 28 degrees Celsius.

These interesting comparisons come about because a degree of Farenheit is smaller than a degree of Celsius. 1.8 degrees of Farenheit is equivalent to 1 degree of Celsius.

However, because the zero point of each scale is in different places, (0 degC = 32 degF) you can't just multiply by 1.8 to get the Celsius equivalent. The actual conversion formula from degF to degC is to subtract 32 then multiply by 5/9.
To convert Celsius to Farenheit, add 32 then multiply by 9/5

The Celsius scale is based on the freezing point of water (0 degC) and the boiling point (100 degC)

The Farenheit scale is based on the freezing point of brine (0 degF) and the freezing point of water (32 degC) This was because it is then easier to calibrate a scale - simply bisect the gap between the two 5 times to get 1 degree. This ease of calibration makes analogue Farenheit scales more accurate than Celsius scales.
