3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
How wonderful to be sat in the early morning on the client couch with a mugful of coffee gazing out at my cherry tree and the blue sky! This is the life! What a sad waste of this precious and temporary life experience if all one thought about was the job you had to do next! Most days at home are currently paradise, with abundant love, warmth and comfort, and the added bonus of Missus' nails being dragged down my hairy back every night before sleep, truly the most blissful ecstatic physical pleasure ever.

I rate the nails experience far superior to sex because I don't have to do anything - just lie there and absorb pleasure. Sex however remains important. It is, besides being physically good for you, an important psychological affirmation of a relationship. From a personal viewpoint, satisfying Missus' libido and making her cum is important to my ego. Though I have erectile dysfunction, I am fortunately not impotent, and get round the former by medication when I can afford it, regular doses of peanuts for the L-argenine (a protein essential to getting erections) and taking the time neccessary to "warm myself up" before sex.

Though I could quite happily be celibate these days, even if there was no partner to satisfy, I would still have an orgasm a day for all the many health benefits, particularly in reducing the risk of Prostate Cancer. To increase your odds of a long quality life, it's important to keep everything moving and flowing.

On the spiritual level I am still fine-tuning the Discipline of Mindfulness. It occurred to me yesterday to put more focus on the Reiki principle of "connection to the Source". As a human being you are the Universe experiencing itself from a single point. In most cases, that experience is so total that the experience is that of an individual IN the Universe. In some human beings however, the consciousness recognises itself - this is called Enlightenment. But that is only a beginning - the human experience is so intense and involving, that awareness can fade in and out. The challenge once Enlightenment has occurred is to strengthen that awareness so it is continuous and uninterrupted.

The individual point of awareness that a human being is does not have the strength to keep up continual focus in the face of continual distraction. However it does have the capacity to be a portal through which the Universe can move. To do this, that point of awareness needs to simply relax and submit, and allow the Universe to flow through it. This is like a finger with a will of its own realizing that it is part of the body and better off letting the brain command it. The finger then simply relaxes and allows the nerve impulses from the brain to move it.

In a similar way, in affirming its connection to the Universal Source, the human mind relaxes and submits to its guiding impulses, which you experience as intuition. The analogy is limited in scope however. The human body is essentially harmonious and subject to the brain. The majority of the elements of the Universe are ignorant of the whole and frequently and in every sense "collide". An individual element must therefore, whether Enlightened or not, defend itself to maintain itself against others.

Consequently, any life experience, Enlightened or not, will involve both love and aggression, both destruction and creation, positive and negative, for light can only be known if there is darkness. The only way a single entity such as the Universe can develop form is to polarise itself, to heap the energy at opposite values.

In this human experience, the awareness is dissociated from the power, as if all your awareness was of a being single finger. This does not mean the rest of you isn't there - in fact you are being maintained by the rest. When you relax and submit to your intuition, the guidance of your True Self, you will enjoy the best possible experience. Like body from the viewpoint of a finger, so the Universe can marvel at itself from the viewpoint of a single human being.
