3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
After being distracted for a couple of days, albeit enjoyably, focus on spiritual development and building up my Practice has returned.

A new concern has arisen over Son's relationship with Missus, that has crept up on me in the last few months. Prior to this I felt that the relationship between the three of us was almost perfect. Son however has developed increasing insight, which whilst advantageous in the long term, it has brought him to the full realization of his mother's illness. This has unfortunately bred not sympathy and kindness but resentment.

To be fair to the lad, it's a tough call coming to terms with the fact that your mother is schizophrenic. He is going through a kind of mourning process. Missus finds it harder to relate to him than Daughter, despite the fact that Daughter's rampant narcissism is in stark contrast to Son's natural generosity, and her verbal utterances far more vicious. I am now rather concerned - Son has to work through his own feelings in his own way and I find myself in a very unwanted but essential role of mediator between them.

However, my training is to accept and let go of things I can't control and to ground myself in the moment. I am in any case optimistic in the long term. Missus instinct is to reconcile and make the first move, and Son, once he has has found his place in the world, will I believe come to an acceptance.
