3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
A highly successful family-bonding day on Sunday that everyone enjoyed. Due to Son not returning from a sleepover until noon, a bonus marital time was enjoyed in the morning. With my male powers much stronger mid-morning than the evening, a "warm-up" was not required and everybody's bell got rung!

It was a day I needed, making an appreciated difference to the "fans". With Missus and Son at home, a full week of healing, family-bonding and inner reflection is the agenda.

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU?
Are you making the most of opportunities for a "time-out"?

5. TODAY'S WEATHER IN BRADFORD

8. TRIVIA
Pigs are unusually susceptible to influenza viruses from other species, particularly birds and humans. Because the influenza virus easily mutates, this means that pigs can be sources of new and deadly strains of flu originating in other animals and passed on to humans who have no immunity to it.

The worst flu epidemic on record is the Spanish Flu outbreak of 1918-1920. Unlike most flu strains, which most badly affect infants, the old and the frail, it was most devastating in healthy young adults. It wiped out approximately 4% of the world's population, killing many times more people than had died in the First World War (1914-1918)

The virulence of the epidemic was because of the war still in progress when it began. Normally people with virulent strains stay at home, quaratining the virus, but in war, many are soldiers in crowded field hospitals who are frequently transported, spreading the virus as they go.

Most pathogens ultimately evolve into forms that give milder symptoms, because mildly affected people keep moving and circulating. The Spanish Flu virus followed this pattern, and by the end of 1920 the virulent strains had died out.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
The last altercation with Daughter had affected me more strongly than I realized, and although the Weekend Job went smoothly enough, I was unable to be grounded all day.

It was only in the late evening, cuddled up with missus in front of the footie and after a stiff dose of chocolate that inner calm descended. I was suitably reminded that often the best treatment is simply downtime in the right environment. You cannot think your way out of a negative mood, only calm can re-set the mind.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
A happy settled family day at home where I never left it's four walls. For a weekend worker like me it was a real treat to have a Friday off and I did everything I wanted to do.

Of course because of the way darkness and light are intertwined, there's always just a little darkness to keep your feet on the ground, and I'm still smarting a little from my last encounter with Daughter. However, it was an important encounter in that I said what I needed to and any illusions I had about Daughter's mindset were suitably eradicated. It is time to completely accept how it is and move on.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Despite a late bedtime at 2330 last night I still woke naturally six hours later. If I get in 1-2 hours of meditation, I seem to need only six hours generally. This suits me as blogging takes 2-3 hours of my day, which is essential for business purposes, keeping my online profile high.

Thursday night's "weekly service" went well, with missus' bell suitably rung. I have come to terms with what's needed and spend an hour "warming up" by various means before missus arrives. When she does I then have something to impress her with.

In subsequent pillow talk, missus aked me what the best time of my life was. Without hesitation, I answered RIGHT NOW!! This is without question my Golden Age, where I have everything I require at home, abundant cosy creature-comforts, no heartaches, and loving fulfilling relationships.

The things of youth I can happily cope without and I am still healthy and mobile enough to enjoy life, making a difference to every moment. I live every day with the attitude of Gratitude.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
While Daughter is as unapproachable as ever, my relationship with Son grows deeper and stronger every day. I thoroughly enjoyed watching him sing at his College formal assessment and going for a couple of pints with him afterwards. Concerning nuclear family, it's a case of two out of three aint bad. I have done everything I can to make things right, and so with peace of mind I can settle for how it is.

My learning has taught me that darkness and light are closely interwoven and mutually dependent, simply the same thing differing only in polarity and degree. Which form fluorishes in your life is dependent on that which you focus. There will always be darkness in life to focus on, cultivate and strengthen if you choose to do that. The same is equally true of light.

My personal morality is no longer built on either - they are both simply energy sources to me. However, since my chosen purpose is to make a positive difference, inevitably there is more light than darkness, but I have no problem whatsoever in wielding dark energy in self-defence.

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
For what are you prepared to fight?

In a tactical error, Admiral Hosogaya does not realize he outguns the American ships or that he has already severely damaged the Task Group. Fearing an air attack, he withdraws his own force. Though the battle is inconclusive, it is an American tactical victory as the Japanese no longer attempt to supply Kiska by surface ship, which now has to rely on meagre supplies from sunmarines.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
The transition from Monday, where there was lots to do, to Tuesday, where there's not much pressing, is quite stark contrast. It's just as important to keep focused in quiet easy-going days as it is in the busy ones.

It's important to begin a quiet day with the right attitude, which is gratitude for an abundance of time. The second is to keep focused on the moment so that your intuition can guide you to the best action at this point. This way there is neither guilt nor time wasted.

Living by uncertainty often means not knowing, from one moment to the next, what you're going to be doing. Once you've lost your fear of this, you are experiencing the moment-by-moment joy of life.

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
I'm very pleased with the changes I'm observing in the hypnotic gastric band experiment.

I've had fun filling the new 16gb memory card in my mobile with stuff, but now it's done I can focus on other things. Rather than a "master plan" I have intentions, and simply keep alert for opportunities to fulfil those intentions. I am essentially a teacher and purveyor of wisdom, presenting and passing on what I've learned in a form digestible to ordinary folk who want to learn.

Middle age definitely suits me! Always having been a cerebral-orientated kinda person, the natural decline of the body has not affected my life drastically. With no need to be good-looking to get what I need, "adequately presentable" suffices.

Erectile dysfunction is probably the most annoying manifestation, but by accepting it and simply creating the right time and space, I am still able to "perform" and keep missus satisfied. Second, the onset of long-sightedness is also annoying, but nothing a pair of cheap reading glasses doesn't manage.

My mind on the other hand has never been so fit! Largely liberated from the issues that used to cripple it, and circumstances that aggravate those issues, my default mindstate is gratitude. Gratitude is without doubt the best attitude, as it tends to attract more things to be grateful for!

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
What attitude do you have and what feeling do you feel most often?

The first parachutes that actually worked safely and effectively emerged in Europe in the 18th century. However as early as the 4th century, the Chinese were flying kites able to carry a full-grown man. These do not count as parachutes because it required a man on the ground to bring you back to the ground safely.

9. THE WISDOM I'VE LEARNED FROM OTHERS
