3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
I find myself in a low mood this morning that I have not experienced for some time. My training doesn't protect me from such experiences! However it does teach me how to respond to it, which is to feel the mood and get on with stuff anyway.
It is possible to create environments for yourself that are benevolent and generally promote positive feelings, but this does not make you immune from "downers". As good things need to be experienced not attached, so bad things need to be accepted not resisted.
Focus needs to rise above both the highs and lows of life and fix on intention, or as in meditation on simply being, the source of consciousness. In fact one positive of a low mood is that there are no bright distractions so it's easier to calm the mind. That is the counter-intuitive response to a low mood, not to liven up but to relax deeper.

7. NOW THAT'S FUNNY!
Never Mind The Buzzcocks - John Barrowman banter
Off the Pacific coast of British Columbia, killer whales often come to
“rubbing beaches”—shallow bays lined with smooth rocks. The whales
rub their bodies against the rocks, and scientists believe the
action may be for no other reason than the sheer pleasure of it.
9. ZEN WISDOM
Your character is determined by how you challenge yourself, and how you
wrestle with your problems, in a way that is unique to you. This is how
character is polished and becomes diamond-like.
