3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
An enlightened life is easy to summarize - you detach your awareness from both the external and the internal experiences of the mind, and passively witness events unfold.
What requires a long time to learn however is the detachment of your awareness from your thoughts. Practice AND the regular practice of certain disciplines, particularly meditation are essential to achieve it and keep achieving it. Once you can do it, suffering instantly stops and your experience is better.
But your consciousness doesn't STAY in detachment by itself! It requires continual concentration and thus mental effort. Fatigue and distraction easily drag your awareness back into identification with the character you are playing (ego). This is of course no different from keeping fit or staying clean - they require continual effort as well!
What does happen is that with persistence it becomes easier to do and pick up again if you neglect it. It helps a lot if your environment is safe and loving and free of toxic relationships - that has been only a recent experience!
My default feelings these days are gratitude and relief, highly positive feelings! I am also fully accepting of the character I play in both light and dark aspects. Rather than deny or suppress the Dark Side, I find it highly useful as a weapon of self-defence. Life has been much easier since I have started consciously wielding it against predators. Of course in dealing with neutral or benevolent characters, my love, compassion and generosity and talents that comprises my Positive Side are employed instead.
The final and essential component is humility - the full awareness that destiny not design brought me to this point and that I can be broken if I am hit hard enough. Uncertainty and vulnerability need to be fully accepted and embraced.

9. ZEN WISDOM
It is in the ocean of dialogue that a person can become truly human.
Dialogue is an epic challenge which first requires you to change
yourself, rather than trying to change others.
