3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Yesterday was one of those were you don't get round to and overlook everything as I was distracted by file backups and meeting the needs of a horny missus taking advantage of Son's evening band practice. Nevertheless, with the laundry still damp anyway, the lawn do-able on Thursday and my laptop some 40 gigabytes lighter, it didn't feel like a wasted day.

Today marks the 31st anniversary of my meeting Missus. Though I am her carer, I am in no way suffering nor is the task onerous. On the contrary, I am very happy indeed, with everything I want to hand, a freedom granted to few husbands and I am loved valued and appreciated by the two people I share a home with.

However, to get to this point has been another matter! The trauma, the relationship breakdowns, mental breakdown, guilt, fear, confusion, loneliness, the feeling of being bereft and helpless, the tears, the rejection, hurt and anger for much of my life. It all led to a place of bliss, peace and wisdom. But the only reason I got through is that I had no idea what was coming! It was worth it but there is still absolutely no way I could endure it or would have endured it for any reward at the end knowing what it involved!

I think perhaps we are much stronger and more resilient than we think we are when not distracted by the prospect of suffering. If we don't know it's coming we can take it when we wouldn't otherwise.

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
Can you see how your suffering has made you stronger?

7. NOW THAT'S FUNNY!

8. TRIVIA
The name “Earth” comes from Old English and Old High Germanic words (eorthe and erda, respectively) for “ground” or “soil,” and it is the only name for a planet of the solar system that does not come from Greco-Roman mythology.

9. ZEN WISDOM
Intelligence is a gift, wisdom is costly.
