5th September 1914
THE FIRST BATTLE OF THE MARNE BEGINS
In a week-long battle, Anglo-French forces defeated an advancing German army and forced it to retreat 40 miles to the Aisne. As a consequence, Paris, the German objective, was saved and the Germans failed to achieve the quick victory planned. Despite many subsequent offensives on both sides, the Western Front settled into a bloody stalemate that would last four years.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
I have tinkered for quite some time looking for mantras, visualizations and techniques to promote this submission. I rediscovered an old Zen Proverb that makes a strong easy visualization that proved very effective at the weekend job yesterday - the glass of muddy water settling. Once my mind has settled, I used a second picture of a wind constantly blowing away the dust of random unwanted thought.
The more I can silence my own mind, the more power I can wield and the more difference this character can make. I'm so on it!

REM atonia, or sleep paralysis, occurs in the typical sleeper every night to prevent people from acting out their dreams. Only a few muscles have the ability to move during REM sleep, such as the eye muscles, the auditory muscles, and the diaphragm for respiration.
