3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
The Weekend Job continues on a good run. Management seems to finally be grasping the three requirements to keep me happy:
1. Place me at the "far end" out of the way
2. Give me my breaks on time
3. LEAVE ME THE F*CK ALONE!!
This raises my morale and consequently my performance.
A good shift would have been an ideal glide into the Christmas break were it not for the fact that missus decided to be stupid and spend £60 we didn't have on completely unnecessary items. Unfortunately her antipsychotic medication does not prevent stupidity. Similarly my mental discipline does not stop me getting pissed off when that happens, particularly when I find out whilst still on shift that such a fait accompli has occurred.
What my training does do however is to enable me to recover rapidly. A sense of context kicked in after a few hours. After all, losing £60 is hardly in the league of losing a child at Sandy Hook school or spending Christmas knowing a prank call you made resulted in the suicide of someone. Consequently after an evening apart, missus having fled to the bedroom and Son knowing exactly how to cheer up his old dad, forgiveness was duly administered at bedtime.

8. TRIVIA
Rats are tough. A rat can go longer without water than a camel. It can fall some five stories without injury. They can survive large doses of radiation, and swim for half a mile across open water. Over generations, they tend to build up immunities to poisons, and a full-grown brown rat will easily overpower a domestic cat.
9. THE WISDOM I'VE LEARNED FROM OTHERS
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending. - Carl Bard
