3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
A significant shift in my attitude over recent years has been towards gains and victories. My response used to be a standard blokey one - triumphalism and inflated ego - the idea that victories made me a better man and proved my worth. These days my response is gratitude. I'm aware that no matter how self-made people think they are, they've "made it" only because that's the way the universe has rolled for them, and that they are consciously or otherwise tapping into a universal principle - that what you focus on you get more of.

Besides, everything you gain in this life will be taken from you - nothing can be kept. In truth you own nothing - you only experience it temporarily. Consequently I'm simply profoundly grateful for all good experiences I have, and I'm focused on simply enjoying them and making a difference while I can. I shall enjoy my moment in the sun!
