3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
I am very conscious of being in a stable, happy island of contentment while around me others struggle. I have no guilt whatsoever about this - I have done my share of struggling, and since all things pass, I may struggle in the future. However, I am certainly not indifferent to the struggling around me.

Stable happy times are ideal for two activities - self-consolidation, building oneself up spiritually, and helping others. This is very simple to do, as opportunities for small acts of kindness come your way every day. In this way, the stability and happiness I'm enjoying can be put to good use.

Though I intend to get rid of it at the first opportunity, the Weekend Job is good at keeping me from becoming naive. A hostile dysfunctional environment is a good test of character. It is presenting me with my greatest challenge - how to respond to "raw nerves" being trod on, which has happened three weeks in succession. From working with my clients on their own raw nerves, I know that rehearsal and preparation are essential. Yet up to press I haven't done it - it didn't happen often enough before for me to address it, but I am taking three successive weeks as a prompt from the universe. Let's see how I respond next time!
