Admiral Yamamoto is ordered to begin preparations for the naval evacuation of Japanese ground troops from Guadalcanal, who are becoming hopelessly outnumbered. 161st Infantry Regiment of US 25th Infantry Division and US 6th Marine Regiment and HQ 2nd Marine Division arrive on the island.

In New Guinea...
Hopelessly outnumbered, Japanese forces are ordered to be withdrawn from Papua and built up at Lae-Salamaua instead.

In Burma...
Indian 47th Infantry Brigade aadvances in the Arakan into areas Japanese forces have already withdrawn from.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
I have my Son to thank for inadvertantly spicing up marital life. As he finds the thought of his parents having sex utterly disgusting, and objects most vocally at this happening when he's home, the first thought crossing Missus' mind whenever he goes out is bonk. With my erectile difficulties resolved, the marital bond has been thus further strengthened.
 
I am disappointed to be virused again so soon after a Norovirus infection, this time with a chest infection which is not enough to stop me doing anything but is enough to annoy me. The cough that results drags on for over a month on average! There's nothing I can do but go with it and allow healing to progress at its own pace.
