3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
One of the great changes of male middle-age is starting to go several days at a
time without being sexually aroused - at all. At first of course this is something of a worry, but once you realize that you can do things to ensure you can still meet your partner's needs as required, you can relax and put all that extra time and energy into something else.

At first you visit your porn-stash to reassure yourself that you can still actually be aroused, but I've now reached the point where I'm not that worried about it. Anxiety of course is a counter-productive "nob-shriveller" so being relaxed makes you perform better anyway.

I'm still a great advocate of an "orgasm a day" but if it requires me being furtive in an occupied house, I can't be arsed anymore if I can happily do without it. Once you reach this point, you realize as a man what an energy drain the male libido has been, consuming vast quantities of time and effort.

In later middle-age, sex still plays a role but my mind is now freed up to give other things more attention. Oddly this chain of thought has been set off by being in the opposite position - a day of bonking aplenty awaits. It's nice to have the best of both worlds at the moment - to have enough potency to satisfy the other's needs and yet not being distracted by libido at other times.
