3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Well that was interesting! At 10.30 am yesterday, all the water in the boiler and central heating system suddenly and spontaneously drained out of an outlet pipe. Not a great time for this to happen when it's consistently below freezing outside, but as any gas engineer will tell you, that's when you get a surge in boilers failing as that's when they buckle under the demands placed on them.
Still, I'm not very pleased as it's only recently been serviced.

Fortunately, I am on a maintenance plan and an engineer is coming tomorrow morning, and the boiler failed at a relatively convenient time when I was there to deal with the problem and we'd all had our baths. For the intervening 36 hours, we can manage on backup heaters and kettles of boiling water.

My cough continues to rumble on, though painkillers yesterday and eucalyptus oil on the pillow overnight kept it under control. Unfortunately I have now woken with a throat infection! It is turning out to be a winter of discontent healthwise!

Putting them into context, none of these woes are really impacting on my happiness - I can deal with them all. They are minor inconveniences in a contented happy life.
