3. TODAY'S SELF OBSERVATION
The latest thing I've noticed starting to decline is my ability to subconsciously task - that is tasks that I could formerly do without any conscious thought now get done wrong without conscious focus. This is most obvious when I'm typing, but happens in other tasks too like making breakfast. I am fortunate that I do not have a lifestyle that currently requires lots of organization and multitasking, or it would be more serious a handicap. On the other hand there is a benefit, you are forced to be more grounded - your mind cannot wander into dark places or stuff won't get done!
With no Weekend Job, there is a possibility of a "Honeymoon Weekend" at home if Son follows through with his intention to spend the weekend away. In any case, a weekend at home is a real treat - lots of me time as Missus will visit Daughter daytime Saturday.
I may be a carer for Missus but this in no way makes her a passenger in the relationship. As well as being chief breadwinner, she has qualities I deeply admire, most notably absolutely phenomenal patience in the face of unreasonable behaviour. I have been considerably unreasonable in the past as I've worked through my issues, yet have zero tolerance for unreasonable behaviour myself (apart from when she was psychotic - I had no choice then!) Missus tolerated it all patiently and is now doing the same thing with Daughter.
My most profound disappointment is the way Daughter has turned out - highly intelligent yet tortured by the emotions of a 14 year old, completely devoid of empathy for anyone else yet excruciatingly sensitive to any remark, and prepared to respond in an utterly ruthless and vindictive manner. Myself and Son find her absolutely intolerable and unapproachable, but Missus simply responds with more love. For this she has my deep admiration - it's one of those things she can do that I can't.
