troops from the Crimea concludes with five transports, a minelayer,
three sub chasers, and other small vessels lost.
Soviet forces cease all offensives in order to consolidate and fully prepare for Operation Bagration, a major offensive against Army Group Centre, intended to coincide with Operation Overlord, D-Day in the West. In fact Stalin has decided that Operation Bagration will be launched a few weeks after Operation Overlord as he wants to base his subsequent actions on the outcome of the Western offensive.
