Due to changes of circumstance, German forces on the front are reorganized:
Army Group North (isolated in Latvia) becomes Army Group Courland
Army Group Centre (isolated in East Prussia) becomes Army Group North
German 2nd Army and 11th Army becomes Army Group Vistula under Himmler
9th Army, 17th Army, 1st Panzer Army, and 4th Panzer Army become Army Group Centre

Soviet 2nd Byelorussian Front captures Elbing and Marienberg
Soviet 1st Byelorussian Front captures Bromberg and 8th Guards Army assaults besieged Posen
Soviet 1st Ukrainian Front captures Hindenburg
Soviet 2nd Ukrainian Front is still attacking besieged Budapest 

On the Western Front...
Operation Blackcock is wound up, all objectives achieved
US 1st and 3rd Armies attack in the Ardennes whislt German forces retreat to  the West Wall (the Siegfried Line)
US 7th Army are restoring positions around Schillersdorf and Hochfelden lost in Operation Nordwind
French 1st Army is attacking the Colmar Pocket

Irish Sea...
In a running battle between U-1051 and RN convoy escorts, destroyer Manners is written off but the U-Boat is sunk with all hands by RN frigates Bentinck, Aylmer, and Calder

USN 3rd Fleet is redesignated 5th Fleet under Admiral Raymond A Spruance

Japanese vessel No. 1 Tamon Maru is sunk by a mine off French Indochina 
Japanese vessel Horai Maru is sunk by a mine off Singapore 
IJN auxiliary sub chaser Hakko Maru is sunk by US aircraft off Corregidor Island
Japanese vessel No. 11 Naga Maru sunk by USN submarine Tautog off Japan

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
A period
of stability is now setting in which I fully intend to exploit! Free of distractions, with mood calm, I will never have a better opportunity to push on and achieve goals. Currently these are to be slimmer, calmer and more inspired.


It is particularly blissful to be in a calm mood, because that allows focus to be sharp, keeping mind at optimum power and maximum effectiveness. I am up for getting things done and making a difference, and enjoy life whilst doing  it!
