3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
This week seems like the first in a while where there is nothing to distract me from my intentions. The question is, can I be focused enough to take full advantage? My tactic for doing so is to let my intuition run things and reduce my ego consciousness to the level of observer by consciously emptying my mind. In my case at least, emptying the mind is like the need to continually bale out water from a leaky boat - it's an ongoing minute-by minute thing. It has taken me years to get to this level, as it requires several skills fairly newly-acquired all at once. The one I've found hardest and slowest to get hold of is absolute faith in my intuition to run the show.
My ego consciousness has the tendency to go into a negative loop - feeling bad generates imagined scenarios that don't actually solve anything that leads to fresh dark emotions. I have to convince myself that the subconscious part of myself is dealing with things and my concentration and imagination can then be freed up to engage in more positive pursuits.
I have come up with the mantra "faith not wrath" to meditate on throughout the day, and we'll have to see tomorrow if this looks like a "fresh start".

8. TRIVIA
The film company United Artists was formed in 1919 by actors Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford and director DW Griffith so that they could control their own work without corporate interference.
The company went through various crises due to the unstable nature of the industry which came to a head in 1955 when cinema audiences dropped to a new all-time low, causing Pickford and Chaplin to sell off their stakes in the company. Nevertheless the company survived and in 1957 went public on the stock market.
The company went on to thrive in the late fifties and sixties, but finally lost its independence in 1967 when in a hostile takeover it was bought by mega corporation Transamerica. It has been a subsidiary of other companies ever since.
9. ZEN WISDOM
The exclusive pursuit of one’s own interests cannot bring true happiness. It is in striving for the sake of others that the great path to genuine happiness is opened.
