A somewhat self-indulgent pig-out day yesterday by my standards, though it was "planned in" and I enjoyed it immensely! This is as close as I get to going on a "bender" though I use sugar rather than alcohol, and like alcohol I fully realize that you can't do it every day. I particularly enjoyed my bacon sandwich supper as I don't normally have supper at all on Sundays.
It is unfortunate that food, which is such a mood-raiser for me, is simply not a healthy option for mood-enhancement on a regular basis. Since I neither want to unbalance my body with external artificial chemicals, I am left with mind-management - and my mind is such hard work to manage! It wanders off into all kinds of dark places at the lightest of provocation!
It has taken the exploration of practically everything else to be led to a conclusion I already know but have been slow to embrace - thought is the enemy. To qualify that, random thought. I just can't afford to let my mind wander if I want spiritual, mental and physical wellbeing. My thoughts are not "me" and are getting in the way of truly being me. They are decidedly unhelpful in my case, particularly when dealing with negative behaviour from others. They "unleash the beast" unnecessarily.
If awareness is to arise above this character, there is no other way but to empty the mind and let intuition run the show, allowing consciousness to rise freely above its character experience. Emptying the mind and keeping it uncluttered is now Priority #1
