3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
After some fakery was needed the night before, yesterday afternoon's "encounter" was fine, and male ego puffed right back up again! I concluded that so long as I'm realistic about timing, I can just enjoy meeting missus needs. In any case, with Son returning, I have a "day off" today!

Son is going through the typical highs and lows of a teenager, and is frequently frustrated (in every sense) as his superior insight and maturity isolates him from his peers. His relationship with his band-members is stormy and ultimately doomed, due to cross-purposes. They are along for "the ride" and Son wants to be a career musician.

I am in the priviledged role of supporting him, which essentially involves just being there for him, listening and the odd light-touch guidance, as he does through all his learning experiences. I take great general pride in my relationship with Son and missus and the difference I make. They alone make my life a worthwhile success, but I shall continue to make a difference everywhere else that I can as well.

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
What difference are you making to others?

8. HALLOWEEN TRIVIA
In World War I, there was a haunted U-Boat. UB-65 seemed cursed from construction in 1916 to destruction in 1918.  The building of the ship was plagued by disaster, including the asphyxiation of three crew members by diesel fumes in the engine room and the crushing of two more by a falling girder. While the UB-65 was being tested for seaworthiness, one of the crew members was swept overboard when he was inspecting the hatches. He was never seen again.

During the first test dive of the UB-65, a fracture occurred in a ballast tank, causing the submarine to sink to the bottom of the sea. The crew lacked any means of renewing the oxygen in the vessel and after 12 hours the crew finally managed to raise the submarine to the surface of the ocean. These incidents led to a belief among the crew that the ship was cursed.

But most chilling of all was the ghost. Second officer Lieutenant Richter was killed when a torpedo exploded spontaneously. Thereafter his ghost was often seen standing and staring impassively with his arms folded. Eventually no one wanted to board or be stationed on the ship, so the German Navy called a priest on board to exorcise the ship.

Thereafter things seemed to settle down. On six patrols she sank 6 merchant ships and British sloop HMS Arbutus. But the ship had one last deadly card to play. On 14th July 1918, US submarine L-2 spotted UB-65 and moved in to engage it. Before it could do so, UB-65 suddenly exploded. There were no survivors. The cause of the explosion was never identified.

1. THIS DAY IN WORLD WAR 2 (30th OCTOBER 1942)

On the Russian Front... At Stalingrad, the German 6th Army has been worn down by attrition and is depleted, exhausted and has no access to reinforcements or reserves. The army's commander General Paulus therefore halts attacks in order to rest and regroup the troops. Meanwhile, the Soviet Stalingrad Front and Southwest Front continue preparations for a major counter-offensive.

In Egypt... The Australian 9th Infantry Division attacking in the coastal sector

In the Mediterranean... U-559 is crippled by RN destroyers, and a boarding party captures codebooks and material subsequently used to crack the new Triton code. The U-boat is sunk.

In the Atlantic... In another bleak day for Allied shipping, 7 freighters are sunk by U-boats. However, U-520 and U-658 are sunk by Canadian aircraft.

In the Aleutian Islands... A Japanese force lands on Attu Island

In the Pacific... On Guadalcanal, the depleted Japanese force withdraws from the American Lunga perimeter, while the Japanese own positions at Point Cruz are bombarded by a USN task force.

In Papua New Guinea... Australian battalions reach Alola and Isurava on the Kokoda Track.

Today's Air Raids...
Schwebo airfield, Burma by RAF aircraft.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Our "mini-honeymoon" ends today when Son returns. It has been a great success in that missus has enjoyed it immensely and I rather enjoy being adored. However my male ego was popped overnight when missus who was having a sexy dream needed "relief". She was duly relieved, but I could only pretend to finish what I started.

I have not returned to being 16 after all! No point getting depressed over it. It was pleasurable enough and I was able to "perform", but I need to be at the peak of my powers in order to finish off. That means the right time of day with a completely empty bladder and wide awake, with about half an hour to beforehand to "warm up". Oh well! This is a common issue for guys my age, and acceptance of "how it is" is a fundamental life-principle of mine.

The really important thing is that in all departments I make a difference, and that my nearest and dearest feel loved. By these criteria I am a success! Life is a temporary experience and it is up to every individual to decide their purpose. My own purpose is clear: to make a positive difference, in thought, word and deed.

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
What is the purpose of your life? Are you deciding that yourself, or taking the word of others?

5. TODAY'S WEATHER IN BRADFORD
Dry and cloudy in the morning with sunny periods.
Drizzle arriving in the early afternoon.
Dry and overcast in the later afternoon, evening, and overnight.
Wind will be westerly and moderate until mid-morning, then will veer south-westerly and gradually strengthen.

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
For some time, intimacy with missus had frankly been hard work, but being liberated from taking the precautions has transformed the experience! The reality is it feels a thousand times better, and faking is no longer necessary. Tadalafil is still required to guarantee everything works, but the prospect is no longer evoking Performance Anxiety. I can just relax and rise to the occasion as required.

Considering she is a Paranoid Schizophrenic and I am her carer, it is astonishing how spectacularly successful and happy the relationship is. I rather like being worshipped and adored and making such a vital difference. Even more incredibly, she holds down a full-time job, enabling me to be full-time carer/housekeeper, hold down the Weekend Job and run my Practice. I rather like the idea of an "experience" with someone who has all their marbles, but I could never use the excuse of being unhappy.

The only problem with being at home most of the time is that I have "let myself go" a bit. Diet and exercise have been neglected, and from today I intend to restore balance and adress these issues.

4. TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
How are you going to use the positive aspects of your life to take your life forward?

5. TODAY'S WEATHER IN BRADFORD

3. TODAY’S SELF-OBSERVATION
Despite all my training, I am not immune from low moods, and I had one that hung around most of yesterday. I know that mood is related to attention, but for most of the day stuck at the Weekend Job, I couldn't budge it at all from things I didn't want. There is more to learn! I aim to be ultimately be able to turn my mood around ins situ, but right now I need a time-out to refocus from a "downer".

Fortunately, I never have to wait too long for such a time-out, and with the clocks going back and fairly early waking, I have 5 hours to myself to begin Sunday. In the calm atmosphere of the Consulting Room, it's easy to re-orient your attention to the positive.

By time missus gets woken I expect to be fully returned to positive mode, ready for a passionate taladafil-fuelled 3 days of passion once Son departs in the afternoon to visit Daughter.

4. TODAY’S QUESTION FOR YOU

3. TODAY’S SELF-OBSERVATION
After a trouble-free shift at the Weekend Job, I was pleased to see son's morale had been lifted by some good news - his weight loss is on track and his band got some good publicity. With his visit to his sister Sunday-Tuesday, horndog missus will doubtless be wanting to take advantage, so a further three tadalafil tablets will be required. I will also need to be disciplined in diet and exercise, which affects my "performance".

Though I have no issues with my own weight, there is a credibility/appearance issue for me as a therapist. In addition, well publicised weight loss would be good for my practice. I CAN lose weight quite easily, it's just that the incentive is low as I'm happy. That said, circumstances are gradually forcing me into a corner so I may be making changes next week.

3. TODAY’S SELF-OBSERVATION
Missus is now on half-term holiday and first day off with her proved enjoyable - it was nice to have some company for shopping, and Tadalafil-assisted "afternoon delight" after lunch was particularly enjoyable, especially as the mantle of precaution has now passed from me to missus' IUD. Son however on his return from college was not very enjoyable, as a day of minor frustrations had put him on a serious self-pity trip. Unable to entice him out of it, we just had to let him stew in it. He withdrew to the "teen-cave" of his room.

With some improvisation, the Consulting Room now serves as my "man-shed" when there are no clients - a comfy personal haven, ideal for when the other two are in the house but I am not required - bliss! Right now for example, while son and missus sleep on, I am happily blogging on the client recliner with a coffee by my side - wonderful!

It's the start of missus half-term holiday today, so there will be less freedom than I have been enjoying! However it means 5am weekday starts are not compulsory (though I woke up that time anyway this morning).

Though I have embraced uncertainty as a way of life, that does not mean it stops becoming scary on occasion. However I have learned not to kneel to fear - I feel it but carry out my intention anyway. I continue to be grateful for the cosy abundant experience of the present moment.

3. TODAY’S SELF-OBSERVATION
In a repeat of yesterday, there was thoroughly enjoyable personal indulgence on the laptop followed by quality time with missus and, suprisingly, daughter via Skype. It was another day in which I made a real difference to folk, my chosen life-purpose, as well as getting my own rocks off. Who could ask for more?

Although I am very open on this paragraph, I still have some secrets, a little private world of my own, that I am in the fortunate position of being able to indulge. Rest assured that it does not involve abuse or violence of any kind, but it would be, to most people, considered bizarre.

I take some amusement in not only enjoying this personal world, but in the fact that I actually can. One advantage of my missus condition, particularly with her perception dulled by antipsychotics, is that she doesn't ask many questions. This, combined with being at home daytime, means I have unprecedented freedom to do my own thing and yet still give bags of quality time to nearest and dearest as well necessary housework. My life is consequently blissful and idyllic most of the time, an unexpected windfall of caring for a paranoid schizophrenic.
