3. TODAY’S SELF-OBSERVATION
A reasonable day yesterday in which I prepared materials for Sunday's Reiki Share, I was saddened to see Son suffering the same downers as I used to get at his age. However he is in the fortunate position of having me for a dad, whereas mine was particularly unhelpful. I know that no one can be jollied or talked out of a low mood.

They have to have an absorbing distraction or be met with a fulfilling challenge. Consequently I didn't waste time trying to talk him out of it. A busy day and evening today may itself solve the problem, but if not I will simply tweak his inbuilt sense of duty and commitment or get him involved. Once he can see that he is not as isolated as he perceives and that he can make a positive difference to people, his mood will lift. Unfortunately it's a cycle he may go through for some time yet before being mindful enough to cope with disappointment on his own.
