3. TODAY’S SELF-OBSERVATION
So the truth is out. Son is feeling the peer-pressure of being one of the last to "pair off". I know exactly what he's going through. I haven't got a girlfriend so something must be wrong with me is the nagging thought that brings you down. The reality is that he is definitely going to get laid with his outstanding singing talent. The reason he is not like the others is because he was born to stand out. He has an insightfulness miles above his peers, and high expectations of a relationship very untypical of a 16 yr old.

Of course none of that is of much use to him right now. He hasn't yet found his audience. Consequently he is feeling the loneliness and humiliation of the misfit. I've been through it all before him. Fortunately, with just enough encouragement to keep him going, I have no doubt he will realize all his dreams, and when he does, not only will he be that bit more appreciative and grateful, he will have an inbuilt sympathy for the other misfits. And of course his experiences will all inspire his music.
